Interests go from local placid water runs through to white-water trips in the UK and abroad. We have a canoe polo team currently competing in Division 3 of the National Polo League and we also have an active sea-paddling contingent and take part in surf trips every year."

"Chelmsford Canoe Club was established in 1946 and is one of the oldest in England, unsurprisingly it is also one of the top Canoe Clubs in the country and caters for the needs of over 400 members of all levels: from beginner to international level canoeists representing Great Britain. All our members paddle in flat-water conditions - "Placid Water" - using a wide range of canoes and kayaks built specifically for flat-water racing and suited perfectly for the conditions of the river Chelmer and Can."

"Formed 1971, the club is BCU affiliated. It is not fortunate to have its own clubhouse but during the winter months, October - April, one hour pool sessions are held at Clements Hall Sports Centre, Hawkwell, on Fridays, 9p.m. - 10p.m. and afterwards, in the bar. Several forms of canoeing are undertaken with the most popular being whitewater, slalom and surfing.
